We use both silicone and saline implants. We place
an incision either in the crease below the breast, around the nipple or
in the axilla. Implants are placed either under the muscle or in front
of the muscle. Most of the time the implants are placed under the muscle
which offers many advantages. The implant size (and the cup size that
can be achieved) depends on the pocket that can be made during surgery
which in turn depends on the height, weight and chest size of the patient.
Measurements are made during the consultation to determine the size. It
is not possible for the surgeon to guarantee a final size.
Breast augmentation surgery takes about 2 -2.5 hours and can
be performed as an outpatient procedure either with general or local with
sedation. Most patients need about 3 – 4 days to resume normal daily activities
and about 2 weeks for full physical activities.
