After pregnancies, weight loss or as a process
of aging breasts begin to sag. Sagging is determined by the location of
nipple in relation to the breast mound. If the nipple at or just below
its normal location but breast descended below the nipple, breast augmentation
may be all that is necessary. Ptosis of the breast is graded based on
the location of the nipple in relation to the breast crease. Mild sagging
can be corrected with incisions around the nipple. Moderate to severe
sagging needs either a short scar or full mastopexy. Combination of breast
augmentation with lift may be necessary to create fuller rounder breasts.
Compared to breast augmentation alone scars in breast lift are significant
as lift surgery involves moving the nipple to a higher location and removing
part of the excess skin.
