Patient's own fat can be used as a filler. Fat
is extracted with a syringe, processed and injected to fill wrinkles and
folds. The whole process takes between 30 - 45 minutes. Local anesthesia
is used to extract fat.
Advantage of fat injection is that as much fat
as necessary can be removed unlike other fillers where cost depends on
quantity used. The disadvantage is that a minor procedure is necessary
to extract fat.
Bruising and some discomfort both at the site of fat removal and injection
are possible. Fat injections typically last 9- 12 months, although some
fat may last longer.
