Rhinoplasty

Surgical reshaping of the nose may be a simple correction of an imperfection or a complete change in the shape of the nose. As each nose is uniquely different from another, surgery needs to be tailored to fit the face and satisfy patient's desire. Corrective surgery depends on the anatomical abnormality, whether it is the tip, base, nostril, height, width or the relationship of one part to the other.

Rhinoplasty, although one of the most commonly performed cosmetic procedures, it is also most technically and esthetically demanding. Surgical correction should aim for an esthetically pleasing nose without creating a 'cook book'nose.
Family trait, genetics, ethnicity and gender variations play a significant role in the shape of the nose. A well done nasal reshaping procedure preserves these characteristics while correcting the imperfections. Rhionoplasty operation takes between 1 - 2 hrs to complete. It can be done with either local and sedation or general anesthesia and most of the time as an outpatient procedure. A splint is usually worn for a week. There is some bruising which may last up to a week. Final healing takes about 6 to 8 weeks.
